During sessions I will guide you through a conversation about your thoughts, behaviors, feelings, and life experiences. When you are ready to share your story, you and I will discuss the following sorts of topics: major life events, healthy and unhealthy relationships, symptoms, family background, and medical and mental health history. I strive to go at a pace that you are comfortable with. My desire is that you would feel safe and respected in this process. Therapy is hard work, and clients who are willing to approach this process with genuine effort and honesty see the most lasting results.
Sessions typically last 50 minutes long. Depending on the goals of the client, there may be homework assignments in between sessions. These are typically not pen and paper assignments but more skill building exercises to further the effectiveness of treatment.
The entirety of therapy is done within the session, and therefore I am not available for treatment by phone or email in between sessions. In the event of a mental health emergency outside of a session, clients are to call 911 or go to their nearest emergency room.
